About the Project
Star FHP is the official mobile application of the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles. The app provides Florida residents and visitors with a secure and convenient way to connect with the Florida Highway Patrol for non-emergency highway-related matters, receive public safety alerts, and stay informed while traveling across the state.
Our Goal
The goal of the Star FHP project was to create a simple, fast, and secure mobile tool that allows drivers in Florida to:
- Report non-emergency highway incidents
- Receive location-based public safety alerts
- Communicate with the Florida Highway Patrol without creating an account or sharing personal data
The app was designed to improve public safety while maintaining a privacy-first approach and minimizing friction for users.

Solution
The solution delivers five key features: Non-Emergency Incident Reporting with anonymous submissions, My Tips for managing reports and communicating with the Florida Highway Patrol, Location-Based Alerts with real-time updates for selected counties, One-Tap Call to FHP for instant non-emergency contact, and a web-based Admin Panel for managing alerts, counties, and incoming reports.
